Clipped

Privacy Policy

How Clipped handles your clips, account, purchases and product data.

Updated September 22, 2026

Who operates Clipped

Clipped is operated by Chrona.

This policy covers the Clipped iPhone app and this website.

For privacy questions, access or deletion requests, contact an@chrona.nyc.

Your account and saved library

Clipped can create an anonymous account with a random identifier before you choose a sign-in method.

This identifier connects your cloud library, including clip audio, transcripts, titles, notes, favorites, review history and followed shows.

Saved clip audio and library records are backed up to Supabase, alongside supported listening and review preferences.

Cloud access controls restrict library and audio access to your account. This is not device-only storage.

Backup requires an internet connection. Audio that has not finished uploading may be unavailable on another device.

Supabase provides authentication, database, storage and server functions; our configured project is in the United States.

For email recovery, we collect your email address.

Resend delivers a one-time sign-in code for email verification or recovery.

Where offered, Apple or Google sign-in provides an account identifier and information you authorize that provider to share.

An anonymous identifier alone does not guarantee recovery after removing the app or changing devices.

Use a recovery method offered in your version before relying on it as a backup.

Recovered preferences do not grant device permissions. Individual spaced-review schedules currently remain on the original device.

Sharing a clip

Your library stays private unless you choose to share a playable link.

Publishing creates a snapshot of the clip audio, transcript, title and show or episode details. It does not include your private notes or account identifier.

Anyone with that link can open the snapshot without an account. Recipients may copy or download it.

Stop sharing in the app revokes the link. An audio URL already issued can remain usable for up to one minute, and copies already downloaded cannot be recalled.

Deleting the clip or account removes access to its published links. Editing a private clip does not rewrite an existing shared snapshot.

Podcast audio and AI features

The app requests artwork, feeds and audio from public podcast hosts, and uses Apple’s podcast catalogue for discovery.

These services receive ordinary network information such as your IP address.

Their privacy practices are separate from ours.

Episode audio may be processed by Deepgram or OpenAI for transcription.

OpenRouter and Google Gemini may process public transcripts, descriptions and selected passages to create highlights, titles and takeaways.

Public episode transcripts and derived highlights may be cached and reused across listeners.

When you ask about saved clips, the AI request may include your question and conversation context.

It may also include selected clip text and personal notes.

Those materials are sent to the AI services needed to answer your request.

Avoid including sensitive information you do not want processed this way.

Ordinary library storage is separate from choosing this AI feature.

We record usage counts and technical errors to operate the service, apply usage limits and investigate failures.

AI output can be inaccurate.

Check the original audio.

Subscriptions and payments

Apple processes App Store purchases and holds your payment details.

Clipped does not receive your full card number.

RevenueCat processes purchase identifiers, product and subscription status, transaction dates, currency and revenue information.

It also processes your Clipped account identifier to grant access and restore purchases.

The same account identifier may link subscription events to product analytics.

This helps us understand trial conversion, renewal and subscription reliability.

Deleting a Clipped account does not itself cancel an Apple subscription.

Product analytics and reliability

Clipped uses PostHog for account or installation identifiers, app and device information, and product analytics.

It also processes event times, journey steps, feature interactions and subscription outcomes.

This helps us understand onboarding, listening, clipping, Daily Review and product reliability.

Our structured analytics events exclude email addresses, private note text, questions and transcript contents.

Clipped uses Sentry for crash and diagnostic reports, stack traces, and app and operating-system versions.

It also processes bounded technical error information to help diagnose failures.

Clipped’s Sentry configuration disables default personally identifying information, performance tracing, session replay, and automatic network, log and interface breadcrumbs.

It does not attach personal notes or full error payloads to these reports.

Separately, PostHog session replay, where enabled, reconstructs supported interface interactions to diagnose usability problems.

The app masks text inputs, images and designated screens containing account details, saved clips, notes and questions.

Providers receive network information when requests reach them, including IP addresses needed to deliver the service.

Diagnostic records may include approximate location inferred from network information, depending on provider configuration.

Our analytics configuration suppresses IP-derived location properties. Diagnostic privacy settings limit retained identifying information.

Analytics availability can differ between app versions and release environments.

Contact us about associated data or privacy choices.

Acquisition measurement

Clipped does not include AppsFlyer in the shipping app and does not display advertising.

The app does not send acquisition events to AppsFlyer.

Apple’s tracking permission controls tracking across other companies’ apps or websites.

Manage that permission in iPhone Settings.

Denying tracking permission does not remove your subscription or library access.

We do not sell saved clips or personal notes.

Support, email and this website

If you contact support, we receive your email address and the message or attachments you provide.

We use them to respond and troubleshoot.

Resend delivers transactional account email. Our email service handles support correspondence.

Omit private notes from screenshots unless needed.

This website has no analytics scripts, advertising pixels or sign-in forms. Shared clip pages use a script to load the requested transcript and audio from Supabase.

Its hosting provider receives standard request and security information when serving pages.

External links, including App Store and email links, follow their respective providers’ policies.

Retention, deletion and your choices

We retain account and library data to provide the service while the account remains active.

You can delete clips and request account deletion in the app.

Account deletion removes the account, associated library records and private clip audio from the active service.

Deleting an individual clip removes it from your library. Stored audio may remain until account deletion or cleanup.

Account deletion does not automatically erase all purchase, analytics or diagnostic records held by service providers.

If you cannot access the app, email an@chrona.nyc and identify the account without sending a password or sign-in code.

We may need to verify that the request is yours.

Account deletion does not necessarily remove shared public-episode transcripts or records independently held by Apple.

Records may also remain for legal, security or financial obligations.

Backups and provider records may follow separate retention schedules; contact us for details about your request.

Contact us to request access, correction or deletion of information associated with you, or exercise applicable privacy rights.

Manage device permissions in Settings.

Uninstalling the app is not an account-deletion request or subscription cancellation.

Security, international processing and changes

We use access controls and encrypted connections to help protect data, but no service can guarantee absolute security.

Providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate.

Clipped is not intended for children under 13.

Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information so we can investigate.

We update this policy when our practices change; the date below identifies this version.
